i would like to say some words about the birthday of the Buddha and this has not been spoken about by me at least。 今天要讲这个佛圣诞以及浴佛的意思，但这以前讲过很多次，但今天讲又不同啊。哈哈，这个佛的法就是这么有意思。嗯，although， i have already talked about it before about the birth of the Buddha do you guys know that we are having a celebration for the butters birthday oh okay good so thats good so ill go bilinguali and Chris cross ok。什么叫做佛圣诞？我们庆祝佛诞。然后我讲你们不要介意哦，跟基督教庆祝耶稣圣诞不一样。 the way Buddhists celebrate the birth of the Buddha is different from what if you dont mind the Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus whats the difference because Buddhism is supposed to be an inner dama or inward something and so you always want to go in war。 所以佛法是往内的， but other religions or even philosophies in all the world they are all go outward seeking for something outside of this body and this mind and if you like outside of this soul and they think that there is something in existence award that you want and so you go and seek for it。 所以佛法是往内推求的，那其他的所有的一切宗教，一切哲学都是往外追逐的。他们认为此身此心之外有一样东西，在这个身跟心之外有一样东西，或者很多东西是你所想要的，所以你永远是在往外面追求那个东西。可是你如果所追求的不是一个具体的，而是一个抽象的、总体的所谓的幸福，那个supposedly，那个幸福也是外在的，对不对？所以你要追求幸福，那么幸福很明显的，因为你要追，而且要求，可见的那个幸福不在我这里面啊，对不对？如果在我这里面的话，我就不用追求了，是不是这样子？ OK， so even if we want to seek for something which is not a concrete thing like money， like estate like cars or if you want to go a more spiritual and you seek for happiness in life so happiness is an idea an or an ideal and you are expecting for yourself and you want to search for it court for it right， but no matter what this the so called happiness is supposedly at the outset its outside of yourself its not within yourself so you dont have it so you need to look for it and you dont know where。 it is either you know you are looking for happiness maybe happiness is in some place or in some body in some person or in some profession you dont know so you just go sick for it and you want to look for this happiness， but certainly this happiness is outside somewhere maybe in the cosmos and in the u alien universe query。 那个是叫什么飞碟？那个什么 u s ufo where ufo people live you know so you want to look for it search for it and but you dont know where it is and even worse you dont know what it is right so this is all people are searching throughout their lives no matter how wise they are or how dumb they are okay and no matter how great they are or how petty they are like how great that is the United States constitution it confirms that everybody has the right to search for their own happiness right well。 what is happiness does it does the constitution give a definition of it does it provided for us what happiness is okay if you are happy then maybe the black man are not right if the black man is happy maybe the yellow man are not right and if the rich men are happy then the poor man wouldnt be right haha so whats happiness okay the people who do the stacks are happy but the people work in the factories wouldnt be maybe right so whathappiness it does not have a definition universal you know so thats the question。 and but people are always having this dream and this dream of happiness if you like all the American dream if you like， but i think it is an extension of the romanticism the eighteenth century romanticism。 讲那么半天都没有讲中文。OK， i remind myself 现在回到中文。 now you take can contemplate a little bit about what i said im going back to the Chinese people 。 所以这个我们人都在追求什么？追求好像很崇高至上，至高的追求幸福是不是？但是什么是幸福？还没有结婚的人认为找一个好老公是幸福，对不对？唉，或者是找一个好老婆，然后就两个人living，happy， happy after like the Prince and Princess 。那个叫做happy。可是他不晓得他们结婚以后天天吵架，你知道吧？而且不打架都不错了。然后打了，打完架以后就跑回娘家去了，哼哼。嗯，所以那个叫做是世俗人的happiness，那他就认为就是说那个幸福是外在的，是外面的一样东西，也许是在一个人的身上，也许是一个职业，也许是个地点。然后你就说，唉，你跑到瑞士去，然后看，唉，这里，住在这里真是很幸福啊，这三观美妙啊，等等哈。唉，可是不一定啦。 对，所以这个幸福的定义，这个美国的宪法里面规定说每个人都有追求幸福的权利，对不对啊？但是他只这么讲，可是也没有讲说什么是幸福，有没有讲？没有？他没有给他一个定义，是不是？所以你所说的幸福跟我所说的幸福不一样，黑人所说的幸福跟白人所说的幸福也不一样，那黄人所说的幸福跟黑人的幸福又不一样，是不是？然后有钱人的幸福跟没有钱人的幸福又不一样，玩股票人所说的幸福跟我们不会没有钱玩股票的人的幸福也不一样，是不是？所以那个幸福是什么幸福？所以那个没有个准儿。所以一句话，什么是幸福呢？世人所说的幸福就是自我认定、自我肯定。可是这个自我认定会变的。常常自我认定也会自我否定，哎，怎么了？譬如说认为嫁给一个白马王子就是幸福了，对不对？好，那等到那个哈利木完了以后，或者甚至在韩铃木都常常吵架，是不是？要到哪里去玩两个人都不能够agree，然后吃什么餐也不能agree，就吵架，就觉得幸福完了啊。所以这个幸福，世间人所说的幸福是自我认定的。所以是什么？用佛法讲作虚妄。 so there is no definition for happiness so the soul called happiness by the role people is really an illusion is self defined you know， but it is illusion in other words in Buddhism this call elusive and sometimes it is delusive what is the difference between ellusive and dilusive ellusive is your self creating dilusive is the an illusion or wrong view caused by others teaching okay， so you are deluded by some people yeah and thereby you becoming a dumb person you know。 所以世间人所说的幸福不是真正的幸福。 therefore the so called happiness by the world of people is not really happiness because this a feeling or idea of happiness can change not just from day to day， but maybe from hour to hour so it can change。 所以你认为说，唉，我如果那个股票这个涨了，然后赚了一大笔，你就很快乐，对不对？可是跌停板的时候你就很不快乐，然后你就觉得股票实在不是happiness，对，就改变了嘛。对，好。 therefore what i want to put forth is that the so called happiness in life is really an illusion that you create for yourself and you believe it to be sold and you make yourself believe it so at a time tentatively， but at the tentative time you believe it is definite， but this def this definite can be changed okay from day to day therefore i say as the butt i said nothing outside of yourself can be real and can be unchangeable everything is mutable so if you want to s really stay happy then you need to stay happy with yourself so go sick not happiness award。 but seek it in war because its got to be s there in here somewhere okay and there is something in here that can create all the happiness that you want or that you need and know where else and nobody else can do this for you because that is inside yourself。 所以世人所说的幸福或是快乐是外在的，那么它是会变，是无常的，所以是不可靠的，所以是幻影，所以是幻化，听的懂吗？所以那佛，我说，那佛也是这么说，真正有一样东西，那样东西可以令你真正的幸福快乐，那就是你自己的自心，你要追求自己的快乐的话，快乐一定是自己的，你知道吧？不可能是别人的，你要追求自己的快乐，你一定要往自己自心里面推求，然后你要追求到有一样东西，那样东西可以制造无量的快乐为你自己啊。 这个对凡夫而言是这样，对圣人也而言也是这样子，所以就这么说，外在的环境都不可靠，别人也不可靠，只有你自己可以可靠，这个你自己可以可靠这个是你要自己要通过你的认识、认知以及努力去认识他，然后了解他，然后追求他，肯定他，这样懂吗？OK，so， there is definitely something inside here that can create all the happiness and even all the wisdom that you need to survive in this world and you dont have to be at the mercy of external。 phenomena or circumstances so and so you can stay happy all the time regardless all the changes in the world because understand this the world needs to change and it is changing and it is always changing。okay， so in there is a medium in Chinese that to deal the moving with the immovable to deal with the moving or motion with the immovable the moving mean meaning the outward circumstances they are always changing all right and so it is the so called mutability change bonus and there is one thing inside yourself which you can buy your own training and discipline and make it immovable by the outward appearances okay， so you can all stay always come cool and happy this cool not the temperature cool it is that you are very smart that cool okay hahaha like you。 say cool that cool okay hahaha so and what is this thing that can make us happy and wise long life like Benjamin Franklin was telling us it is good nature so this is the basic and most profound ducturing of bulism。 所以这个能够令我们永远可以快乐，可以产生智慧，然后可以有能力对付一切外在的变化，因为这个外在一切是要变化的，它不能够停住不动的，对不对？那是人或是事，或是世间，整个情况都会变的，天天都在变，尤其现在变得越快。那你能跟得上他的脚步吗？你跟不上，你若 try 要跟上，你会死掉，对不对？这不可能的。所以你就是什么，我们刚刚讲说，就是以不变应万变了。所以你必须要这样子，那你要找到你那个不变的东西，然后能够令你永远是很stable。对，顺便讲到人为什么会痛苦或是会苦恼，就是因为不stable。你的感情不stable，你的心不是stable。噢，所以你常常心里面有波浪，所以那你自己自心就有波浪，然后在这外在的环境的影响，你那个波浪又更大了，所以心的起伏要令你动荡不安。这样子，所以我们就要找到，不是往外找，要往内找，找到一个能够成为你这个心海里面的中流砥柱那个东西，那个就是佛性。 so this put a nature can work as a pillar in your mental house so it can withstand all the changes all the impacts of either inward internal external changes， so that you can always stay calm and stable， so and stable stability is very important you know why because when people suffer its not due to other things， but due to the instability of their mind when their mind is not stable then there are fluctuations in their mind and these fluctuation of vaccellations of the mind make people suffer okay so if the fluctuation go too far then people become。 crazy right，so， but if the fluctuation is minor not too bad then you just suffering from this quiet your mind is this quiet so， but you feel uncomfortable right。 所以我们要找的就是这个佛性。 now lets come back to our main theme what i want to put forth at the outside， i said in Buddhism when we celebrate the buddhis birth its okay you can celebrate the outside budda there is a outside and outside budda but mainly this very doctrine Buddhism wants you to reflect everything to yourself so if you are celebrating the birth of Buddha， then you need to wish that there is Buddha there is a Buddha born here okay so there should be a birth of Buddha in here so。 我们庆祝佛圣诞，我们希望佛出世，对不对？为佛出世而欢喜，对不对？但是你可以为外面那一尊佛出世，这叫有相佛宝，有相佛宝出世，你欢喜。没错，很好，因为他可以度众生。但是我们的佛法就是要反归自己，你在外面庆祝佛的圣诞和佛菩萨圣诞，但是你希望自心中有佛出世，你懂吗？自心中有佛出师。 and the birth of the Buddha is not just supposed to be on this very day okay， i mean the internal birth internal buddabs birth it is supposed to be every day there is a Buddha there it wont die it cannot die right and you cannot let him die there okay。 所以 and you dont want your internal Buddha go into near Vanna OK。所以你自心佛出世以后，就不要让你的自心佛涅槃。所以你这里如果你发了心，我希望我自心佛出世，但是不要出了遍照寺，你的佛就涅槃了。你的佛只住世 3 小时。 so so when we perceive or we wish the budda born in our mind we want to say long lift the Buddha okay ha， so you need to know the profound meaning of this buddhis birthday whats the meaning of the celebration so you need to celebrate the birth of my Buddha？ OK，那 my Budda there okay but my Buddha here right？ and what is Budda you want to have a Buddha in here born or lip in here budda stands for wisdom and compassion wisdom infinite wisdom and universal compassion OK an exceptional or an exceptional compassion inexclusive i mean inexclusive compassion which is competition for all not for a selected few or some groups of people or some special races or colors or anything but compassion for all but this is not talking because the Buddha did it and the Buddhists following and have been doing it thats for effect right so there is no。 question of discrimination in Buddhism， it is not a theme it is out of the question， so there can be argument of the ductors， but there can be no fight， no fist fight and no weapon， fight okay，so， and of course no slaughtering。 听的懂吗？所以什么是佛？佛就是智慧跟慈悲。那我先讲慈悲，这个慈悲是普世的慈悲，普遍世界就对一切平等的慈悲，所以不论是对任何人种，对任何肤色都是一律平等的慈悲，所以等慈，那所以在佛法里面没有歧视的问题，所以也许会讨论争论那些教理的问题，但是不会吵架，也不会打架，不会 box 拳击，当然也不会拿武器来打了，更加不会有屠杀，对不对？这就是佛法的。 this is the greatness of Buddhism and the greatness of Buddha， which is beyond all words and above the wisdom of the Buddha， it is connected to the compassion of the Buddha， the buddhis compassion the Buddha infinite compassion is the source of his wisdom because the his universal comparison there is no limit to his compassion and so he is totally devoid of egotism selfishness and this selfishness can be a racial selfishness or a theological selfish ness understood okay it can be about Theo theology but belief or ideology okay so because he is totally devoid of all these restrictions so he。 can cultivate his wisdom beyond any limitness or any limitation。 因为佛的慈悲是没有限制的，所以他完完全全没有自私，他完完全全没有自我，所以他的心是无量的，所以他所修的一切的智慧功德也变成就是无量的。 so in contrast， all the wallet， people are limited in the mind or in the heart by their self justified reasons right so there is a limit to their wisdom they wont go their wisdom no dont go beyond that limitation of the mind no way right and but Buddha is different because his mind is limitless i would say hes from the time of your longgone before until this day he is the guy that his god， the biggest heart， so he can incorporate all people and also theres one good thing in Buddhism。 the Buddha only rewards and he never punishes thats great right so if you practice good practice well practice diligently then you got reward from your own comma n the Buddha too he will match your credits all right so you get double reward more than discover card can give you haha？ but if you do a wrong thing or a bad thing becomes a bad boy that the Buddha does not punish you because your own comma is going to punish you okay so at that time the Buddha wont stand by you y you might forgive him for this okay so。 佛是唯一的教主，他只有赏而没有罚的。你做好事情，除了你自己的业力会给你赏识以外，那哎，佛也会赏给你东西，慈悲加慈啊。对，所以你得到的是两份的薪水，加薪，就你做好事，那佛就给你加薪，就一倍。你知道 double pay，可是你做坏事就变成坏孩子啊。那这个佛也不会惩罚你，因为你的业力自然会惩罚你，但是那时候佛就不会去为你说话。这样子，所以信佛法就是最好的了，对不对？我们从来不怕佛，对不对？我们只讲了很肉麻，就是敬爱佛，对不对？ eh eh for this reason eh we are not afraid of the Buddha we never feel fighting for about him because he never he is never subject to anger ever and even if he did Scott some people or some disciples， but his face show ex expression is always mild you know so， but it is even worse when a person with a mile face and scheduled you although milly， but you feel bad a real bad right the put i would say sorry put a you are a fool how do you feel about that you are a fool by doing this。 thing ill tell you what you are foolish in and so on you know youve he never scores but he talks to you and about the idea and let you understand where you are okay so it its even worse i would rather he scodes me bad you know。 所以佛从来不骂人，但骂人都是很温和的。那顶多是说舍利弗汝愚痴人。 就这样子，或者是目犍连汝愚痴人，然后你做什么什么什么，是愚痴也，这样子，可是他也不凶，他语言也不硬，但是你讲了你就是很难过，对不对？唉，所以我是想说，我宁愿他骂我一顿，很狠狠的骂我一顿，也不要这样子温和的讲我啊。不过他就是让你了解你哪里错了。 so these are the characteristics of the Buddha， he is ever wise and compassion it and without the limitation at all and no exception to anybody so we are really very proud to be a Buddhist and what is more in Buddhism we have five precepts for secular people or lay people and we have two hundred and fifty eight percepts for a priest like me， but we all sustain them very well fairly well okay so we dont feel pressed you know we are voluntary and we feel happy in engulfing all。 Those precepts you know and thats different from other religions because other religions you need to take it and all at one time and then you forget about it right，so， and another thing is that bolism is very realistic， its no dream and its no fantasm and its no mythology， its not its no fairytale， so its all. Facts. So the Buddha was a prince of a state and he became a monk and then he practiced and to get enlightened himself so theres no mythology at all okay theyre all facts so and by doing this the budda is showing a step his life experience. or enlightenment experience can be duplicated so everybody has the chance to become enlightened or become a Buddha， which is different from other religions because theres no way in other religions that you want to be a god if you dont say so and you dont think so if you think so then you are right。 听懂哈。所以 so this is the privilege of being a Buddhist so you can hope for the highest wisdom and the highest result of wisdom in compassion and there is no offense of yours to anybody by doing this and only the Buddha would urge us to do this and if you dont do this then you are not a good Buddhist you know if you dont want to be a Buddha then you are not a good Buddhist really this is mayona Buddhism okay so can this be said also be said in Christianity if you say i if you dont become a guard then you are not。 a good question then you are dead meat right， so and also in Buddhism and that suits Americans very well in Buddhism you can ask questions and you can ask all the question you want to and the worst thing is that a be to be a Buddhist that you dont open your mouth to ask questions which means that you never practice so that you dont have questions just like you go to school and the teacher execute any questions say no thats the worst answer why because you did not study at home so you dont know what is talking about in the textbook so you。 Dont have any questions no the same is the it is the same with Buddhism so if you have questions， then you are welcome and the teacher or the priest will answer you no matter what but ill guarantee you if you ask questions ill answer you but if you if your question is inappropriate i will still answer you， but im not so patient like the Buddha i was gold you hahaha maybe give you a hit on the hit you know as a. Reward. So you can raise any questions even about the integrity of the Buddha or of myself of course ill kick you first and. then answer you。所以， but this happens in butters time a lot of people question him even about his hes having an adultery with some people you know and make a slender of it so everything is okay in Buddhism okay so long as you practice and if you practice then i have a way to bring you under control just like the breaking the wild horse they are ways a lot of ways for breaking， while cows or horses you know in Buddhism and the Buddha。 ac actually and exactly perceive people as wild horses and wild cows in the wild west。 so believe me i also have picked up some ways to do the same， sometimes with a whip， even a good licking so what is practicing Buddhism or what is the meaning of celebrating the birthday of the Buddha， we rejoice over the birth of the Buddha， but we even need to rejoice more over the birth of the Buddha inside our mind and if you perceive if you can contemplate that there is a Buddha born in your mind then you wont be a bad guy right you dont need so many laws the。 civil laws right you can regulate yourself you at the same time you are putting yourself under an hardness and make this white horse become team and get up regularly okay so make the budda born here and make it long lived and from this day onboard until win eternity OK。 所以庆祝佛诞是什么？庆祝佛诞就是说希望我们自心里面有一尊佛出生，佛出世，然后这个佛出世以后就不涅槃了，那就住世，佛就住世，然后从今天开始，以至于什么呢？以至于永恒了，尽未来际。 to the confines of futuity thats a term in Buddhism by the way which means to the end of future i just put it more urbinely okay。 尽未来际。 eh， and then so the celebration for the buddhis birthday is to make the most profound meaning is to make a put up borne inside ourselves and this is not just the meaning for celebrating the butters birthday， but also generally for practicing bulism in general。 所以庆祝佛圣诞不是说让我们心中有一尊佛出世，不只是这样，这个意义还可以引用到说广泛的说一切的学佛就是为了这个目的令佛出世。这样子。 and then about the living of the Buddha， which originally means that when the Buddha was born， he was a prince and he was watched lived by people and but later on we after the near run of the Buddha his life and so we have this Rachel and we pour water on top of the Buddha and it symbolizes the cleansing of dusts or impurities and so the same thing applies here when you wash or leave the Buddha you are not living the Buddha outside you want to live the。 Buddha inside and more specifically you want to live your own mind and to cleanse it of any dust or impurities so that you become clean and purified so this is a purification process and also you want to get empowerment from the Buddha by because this is also a symbolism Buddhism is very is highly poetic so you see when you pour the water on the Buddha actually you want to pour the water which cleans everything into your mind so thats a symbolism and symbolism is widely used in poetry so its a poetic significance of course a religious significance too。 所以你灌顶在佛上的时候，你就是要清净嘛？那清净的话不是说清净那个那尊佛，而是清净你自心这尊佛。然后所以清净，然后接着有香水就庄严，先清净后庄严，这样子okay， so i have mainly explain what i can about the celebration of the butters birthday， so i hope you have a put up born in your mind from today on and carry it everywhere you go and youll be okay and even if you dont come back again which i dont know you if you are going to do it， but if you dont come back again and remember this teaching and keep your Buddha in your mind and when you become in eighty year old。 old man then and you remember about the teaching of that Chinese priest telling you ive gotta put that in here and you will feel comfortable， converted and feel okay and feel that Budda hes going to welcome me to his purified world okay then thats not okay oh its okay hahaha its OK OK 。 所以永远记得，你就老了，你 80 岁的时候不会养活的时候，你就想到成观法师说我身上有一尊佛。唉，这尊佛，然后因为我里面有一尊佛，外面的佛过来接我去。知道吧，你必须要自心中有佛，外面的佛才会接你去了。你自心中没有佛，这不相应嘛，对不对？懂吗？ so you got to keep the boot in here so that you can correspond always with the Buddha you know by email stop。
